About The Migration Initiative
The Migration Initiative is a cross disciplinary research network at University of Copenhagen. It involves researchers from the faculties of Health Sciences, Humanities, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Farmaceutical Sciences, Natural Sciences and Theology.
Migration research today faces a challenge of rethinking migration processes and the conceptual framework within which they are examined. Former ideals of rootedness and belonging associated with a particular nation state are being challenged by ideas of mobility and hybridity in a global arena.
The migration research network at University of Copenhagen wishes to contribute to a rethinking of migration research through a central focus on mobility, place making and processes of identification and belonging within the context of globalization.
